The world of work is constantly changing, and there is no such thing as “a job for life” any more. What we need to do is find a way to move on when the time is right, change what we can change and accept what is the reality. We may need to change direction and expand our career horizons.
Expanded Career Horizons counselling, is not just about helping you find a course of study, a training program to fill a skills gap, or a job - it is a complete, holistic, approach to create a program that will work for you, now and in the future.
We all have ideas about how we would like life to be and what our work could be like, as well as disappointments about what didn’t work out. As an experienced career practitioner, Expanded Career Horizons can help you to:
- clarify your career goals, both short and long term
- create a career portfolio
- prepare a professional resume and application letter/s.
Expanded Career Horizons approach is designed to provide a clear accurate picture of your strengths and style of work offering a range of career development services that are holistic and adaptable.
Using a holistic approach is taking into account the whole of you. Expanded Career Horizons services take account of the important areas in your life, including your current situation and personal development as well as other needs including family, community, social, recreation pursuits, hobbies and areas of special interest.
Change is happening all the time. We need strategies about how to adapt and how to create the changes needed for further development.
Expanded Career Horizons currently use Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the John Holland Self Directed Search to ascertain your preferred style of being and working. The MBTI instrument can be utilized either on line, in a group setting using paper and pen, or individually, with either self scoring or computer generated results.
Individual private sessions are conducted in an informal way, either in the registered office or a similar venue as required.
The first session is mainly to explore your current situation and your ideas about the situation and your options, lasting about 60 minutes. Any follow up sessions are specifically arranged with an agenda for work.
